Used when there's 2 different navigable channels available, they are placed at the split of channels to identify which is the preferred channel

IALA Buoyage System B

IALA Buoyage System B Preferred Channel Marks are used in the majority of the world including the Americas, South Korea, Japan, the Philippines and the eastern Pacific. The shapes and top marks of the buoys are the same in IALA B as they are for Preferred Channel Marks in IALA A
